How to apply a lash serum, step by step
Application error is the most common reason a serum appears not to work. Five steps, one minute a night, twelve weeks.

Start with a clean, dry lash line
Remove all make-up and any residue of oil-based cleanser. A damp lash line dilutes the formula and pushes it into the eye.
Load the applicator once
One dip, then blot. A single stroke per eye is the intended dose; more product does not accelerate growth.
Draw one line along the upper lash base
Work from inner to outer corner, staying on the skin at the root. Do not coat the lashes themselves and do not apply to the lower lid.
Let it absorb for two minutes
Wait before lying down so the serum stays where you placed it rather than migrating across the lid.
Repeat nightly for twelve weeks
Consistency is the single largest variable in outcome. After week twelve, drop to three or four nights a week to maintain.
The twelve-week
timeline
Five ways to
waste a tube
- Applying to the lower lash line. Blinking transfers enough serum from the upper line; doubling up only raises the risk of irritation.
- Coating the lashes like mascara. The serum needs to reach the skin at the root, not the hair shaft.
- Using it over contact lenses. Remove lenses first and wait 15 minutes before putting them back in.
- Skipping nights. Two or three missed nights a week can push visible results back by a month.
- Stopping at week six. Many lashes are still in their resting phase — judge at week twelve.
